Partner Bruce Brusavich participated in Redondo Union High School's Teen Court on November 12th from 3 pm to 6 pm. After a mock trial demonstration, a teen court trial was convened where high school students served as jurors to pass judgment, and if guilty, a recommended sentence for the teen offender cited for drug-related offenses. Los Angeles Superior Court Judges David Wesley and Stuart Rice were the presiding judges over the two trials.
Teen Court, a South Bay Bar Association supported program, is an alternative sentencing program for teens who have committed misdemeanors, which focuses on redirecting the teen to get back on track versus the traditional Juvenile Justice system of punishment.
