On December 27, 2015, Partner Gerald Agnew set a new national record for the Hour endurance on a velodrome track. Mr. Agnew first set the national record for this event in his age group in 2013. He set the 2015 record at the Velo Sports Center at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Mr. Agnew set the record on his 68th birthday and is not slowing down. He continues to train for several hours, four to six times per week, in preparation for the Masters' World Championships in 2017.
In 2010, Mr. Agnew began training on a velodrome track, an indoor venue that features a steep oval track specialized for fixed-gear racing bikes. He is drawn to velodrome racing for many reasons, including the mental and physical challenges it brings and has won medals in state, national and international competitions.
