The Importance of Uninsured Motorist Insurance in a Hit-And-Run Accident

Posted by Bruce B. Brusavich | Jun 14, 2016 | 0 Comments

Southern California is the hit-and-run and road rage capital of the United States. Worse, more than half of the injured people AgnewBrusavich sees in our practice have been hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver, or have been in a hit-and-run accident. If you are hit by a car while walking or cycling, you are generally covered by your uninsured motorist coverage. If the offending driver has only minimal coverage, your uninsured motorist coverage may still be available.

If the accident is a hit-and-run, your uninsured motorist insurance will cover you for injuries and damages if there is proof of physical contact. Save, preserve, and secure all physical evidence after an accident. Proof of physical contact is a must.

And as always, be sure to carry the maximum uninsured motorist coverage your insurance carrier will allow.
