A number of us own and operate a business. Most of us carry comprehensive insurance for the business, i.e. liability, property, vehicle, workers’ compensation, etc.
If your business policy includes uninsured motorist coverage, be aware that it most likely will NOT cover you if you are injured as a pedestrian or while riding your bicycle. And in Southern California the chances are better than 50-50 you will be hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver or, worse, it will be a hit-and-run.
Make sure you check with your broker or commercial carrier, as it’s important to always carry the maximum uninsured motorist coverage you can get with your personal automobile liability policy.
