Los Angeles, CA (December 29, 2020) – A traffic accident was reported in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles yesterday, December 28, that prompted an emergency response. According to police, the accident took place at approximately 10:24 p.m. when a vehicle collided with a fire hydrant.
Firefighters, police, and paramedics were called to assist at the scene of the crash that occurred at the intersection of West Olympic Boulevard and South Alvarado Street for currently undisclosed reasons. Two people were trapped inside a vehicle that had overturned after striking the hydrant.
Both persons were extricated from the vehicle and transported to a nearby medical center for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been reported at this time.
A total of three people sustained injuries in the collision. One man was stated to have been in critical condition at the crash site, according to firefighters who were on the scene. No one involved has been identified to the public at this time.
No other information around the crash or its surrounding circumstances has been released. An accident investigation is currently underway.
