Rancho Cucamonga, CA (December 04, 2020) – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries and both of his dogs were killed when the trio was hit by a drunk driver on Tuesday, December 1st in Rancho Cucamonga.
According to officers from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, the accident took place when the victim was out walking his dogs with his family at about 2:15 p.m. in the 7100 Block of Archibald Avenue near the Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail.
Officials stated that the man was walking ahead of his family and was halfway across a marked crosswalk when he and his dogs were struck by a speeding car. The driver then lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The injured pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported via ambulance to a local medical facility for emergency treatment of his injuries.
No details concerning his present condition are known. Both dogs died at the scene.
The driver, Mouaffak Alami, 23, a resident of Rancho Cucamonga, was also taken to a nearby hospital. Deputies served him with a warrant to obtain a blood sample.
