Fontana, CA (July 15, 2020) – A fatal auto-pedestrian collision was reported to have taken place in Fontana late on Monday night, July 13th, according to local law enforcement. The deadly accident happened near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Cherry Avenue at around 11:50 p.m.
Officials stated that a 1998 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Foothill Boulevard when it struck an unidentified individual alongside the roadway, west of Cherry Avenue. Police officers and emergency medical technicians were dispatched to the scene where they arrived to find the victim down in the road. A short time later, authorities pronounced the victim, identified only as a 39-year-old man from Fontana, deceased from his injuries.
At this time, the identity of the victim is not being disclosed until authorities can notify the next of kin. The driver involved, identified only as a male 37-year-old Fontana resident, remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
An investigation into this incident is being handled by the Fontana Police Major Accident Investigation Team. No further details have been reported to the public.
