Downey, CA (June 20, 2020) – An individual identified as Nancy Segoviano, 36, of Anaheim, was killed while assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle on the Santa Ana Freeway in Downey. The fatal accident that also left several others injured including three children occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday night, June 18th.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Mitsubishi Lancer was disabled after hitting a median near the Lakewood Boulevard exit. Segoviano was the passenger in a Honda Pilot operated by 47-year-old Bruno Rodriguez, of Anaheim, and occupied by the children, ages 10, 12, and 14.
While walking, Segoviano was struck by a 2015 Ford Mustang that continued to crash into the Honda. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and transported Segoviano, Rodriguez, and the three children to a nearby hospital. Segoviano was pronounced deceased a short time later as Rodriguez and the children suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The operator of the Mustang, Travis Le, 18, of Placentia, suffered a minor cut, and a female passenger in his car was hospitalized with head injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Nancy Segoviano at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.
