Los Angeles, CA (October 24, 2020) – A wrong-way crash involving three vehicles took one life and injured five others on a freeway in Los Angeles in the early hours of this morning.
At approximately 3:05 a.m. this morning, October 24, Saturday, an 18-year-old female lost her life due to being involved in an auto collision on the 105 Freeway in Southern Los Angeles.
According to the crash report, a vehicle was traveling the wrong way on the freeway for unknown reasons when it crashed head-on into another car in the vicinity of Long Beach Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol stated that a 24-year-old male was traveling east in the westbound lanes of the roadway in his 1999 Honda when he struck a 2012 Honda with five passengers present inside the vehicle.
The passenger riding in the front seat of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision by responding to medical professionals. They were only identified as a resident of Bermuda Dunes.
The 1999 Honda's driver, a West Covina resident, was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood with injuries deemed to be moderate in nature. The driver, who remains unidentified at this time, was arrested on suspicion of intoxication.
The 2012 Honda's driver, identified only as an 18-year-old from Coachella, along with another Coachella resident, aged 29, was transported to St. Francis Medical center where they received treatment for injuries deemed major.
Two other passengers present in the 2012 Honda, identified as a 28-year-old La Quinta woman and a Thousand Palms woman, aged 28, were transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical center located in Downey to receive treatment for major injuries.
No information pertaining to the third vehicle involved or its occupants has been reported.
All westbound lanes of the freeway were closed for a period of time following the incident.
No further information has been provided concerning the wreck or its surrounding circumstances.
An investigation into the details of the crash will be carried out by local police.
