Los Angeles, CA – Two Killed in Parking Lot Plane Crash Near Van Nuys

Los Angeles, CA (September 13, 2020) – A plane crashed into a parking lot in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon taking the lives of two individuals.

The accident took place shortly after 3:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, September 12th. According to the accident report given by the Los Angeles Fire Department, the aircraft crash-landed in a parking lot just west of the airport at 6961 Hayvenhurst Avenue.

The plane did not collide with any buildings and no one on the ground sustained any injuries due to the wreck. The plane did damage three cars that were parked in the parking lot at the time of the incident, however.

The crash site was reported to be just off of a plane runway.

The plane was reported to be a single-engine Ryan Navion B by the Federal Aviation Administration. Their report of the incident stated that the plane had just left Van Nuys and was on its way to the Santa Ynez Airport in Santa Barbara County.

According to witness reports, the plane lifted off and began to climb several hundred feet when it seemed to stall out in mid-air and then began a quick nosedive toward the ground. A witness stated that it then burst into flames after crash-landing.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

No further details have been currently disclosed.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.

Plane Crashes in California

Aviation travel is one of the most convenient and popular ways to travel distances too long to drive. In a highly-populated state such as California, traveling by plane is a very common way to get from point A to point B. This means that plane crashes are unfortunately rather common in California and across the United States. In 2018, the number of people who lost their lives due to aviation accidents increased by about 13%, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. Fatalities attributed to plane accidents in the US rose from 347 in 2017 to 393 in 2018. Approximately one aviation death per day occurred in 2018, according to this increase.

Aviation accidents may be rare compared to other types of accidents, but when they do occur they usually cause extreme personal injury or death to those involved. For the same reason that 18-wheeler truck accidents are much more dangerous to be involved in than a regular car accident, aviation accidents are usually more dangerous due to the enormous weight and size of the plane itself.

Unfortunately, the most common cause of aviation accidents today is a pilot error which accounts for nearly half of all plane crashes in the US. Being an airline pilot is among some of the most complex and difficult occupations available, which leaves a large margin for error. Although there are some worthy exceptions, almost 100% of the most common causes of aviation crashes include some form of negligence.

Losing a loved one in an accident of any kind can leave family members devastated for years to come, especially in an avoidable accident. If you have recently lost a loved one due to the negligence of another person, your pain could be exacerbated while considering the facts of your loved one's death. The fact that someone could have paid closer attention or been less negligent in their actions that lead to your loved ones passing can be extremely stressful and difficult to accept. No one should have to simply accept the fact that their loved one was taken from them due to another person's carelessness without first attempting to take action against that negligent party.

The person, people, or entities responsible for your loved one's passing should be held accountable for their actions.
