Pedestrian Accidents in California
Each year, pedestrian accidents claim the lives of nearly 900 people in the state of California. Thousands of other victims are left to deal with painful and debilitating injuries. Due to the fact that pedestrians are unprotected against the impact of collisions, they are at a heightened risk of suffering broken bones, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other life-changing injuries. In most cases, accident victims require extensive medical treatment for their injuries.
Pedestrians, in particular, are often rushed to area hospitals where they are forced to undergo emergency surgery. Numerous injured pedestrians remain hospitalized for several days or even weeks following their accidents as they endure overwhelming pain and suffering. Even when victims are released from hospitals, they often require months of therapy and have to spend time off work. Regrettably, there is very little that we can do to protect ourselves against reckless and negligent drivers. Statistics show that nearly 80% of traffic-related incidents are caused by the negligent actions of drivers. If you have been injured in a crash as a result of a negligent or reckless driver, you are urged to reach out to a knowledgeable pedestrian accident attorney in California as soon as possible. You may be entitled to compensation to help alleviate the financial burdens you face moving forward.
