Van Nuys, CA (January 01, 2021) – A 41-year-old driver died and his 38-year-old male passenger sustained critical injuries on Friday, January 1st when their vehicle left the roadway from the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway, crashed in a field, and immediately went on fire.
As reported by the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at about 3:40 a.m. in the area of the exit for Victory Boulevard.
The 2017 Audi R8 eventually came to a stop in a field by the Woodley Park Archery Range, with the driver trapped inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, a man from Canal Winchester, Ohio, was thrown from the vehicle and transported via ambulance to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for emergency medical treatment of critical injuries.
The identity of the driver, a male from Tarzana, has not been released.
